Champagne and Blue Skies

We are in the heart of the Champagne area, with vines are far as the eye can see. And it is very warm. However, we were not supposed to be here.

From Calais, we were on our way to a carefully chosen hotel quite a way from here, when we got a phone call from the lady at the hotel telling us that they had a bad flood and could no longer put anyone up. She offered to find somewhere else and we agreed, not really wanting to wander round looking for a place for ourselves.

So we arrived at this rather strange place to be greeted by a jovial man who was 'very, very sorry' but we could have no water and no electricity for an hour. We went out and explored the amazing Champagne area, an area we have only passed through in the past. When we returned all was well. 

I am now hoping that in this area I can get a glass of champagne!!
