The dropped stitch

The sea at the door

Pondered our relationship with the sea as I strimmed in the sunshine this morning.

The waves were playfully splashing over the large sea defence boulders at the top of the beach. Yet with a high enough tide, large waves and the wind coming onto the beach the beautiful little stone house may well soon be destroyed.

A high tide must be expected, too, because along the coast the sand bags are out and flood barriers in place to protect the houses built along the sea's edge in the village. Those householders watching the splashes of the sea will not be interpreting its mood as playful.
