I had a dream
On the whole my family transport has been sensible family cars but there is one vehicle that awakes my desire more than any other! Jag, BMW, Porsche MG's ? NO
My top choice would be a Landrover, not one of the shiny new ones An old Landrover, I have given in to these urges twice. Several years ago I sold a lovely Ford Sierra and bought a Landrover 110 estate with a V8 engine that did 10mpg! then after I retired and we had the need for two vehicles I bought myself a Landrover 2A made in 1962. In the winter it had no heater and condensation dripping off the inside of the roof meant you got as wet as if the roof open and the brakes were like a couple of wet sponges but I loved it. For some three years I traveled some 14 miles a day back and forward to work It never let me down No car tax and cheep insurance but in the end my sensible streak kicked in again, that and the holes in the chassis got to big!!
Even today I will cross the road to look at one of the fabulous old models. Today stuck in doors from the rain and the wind I dreamed I was out on the moor in my Series One.
While my sensible little Japaneses 4 x 4 sits outside, ready to carry me in air conditioned comfort where ever I want, but it will never have the charm of a Landy.
