Boat Trip
Although both Margaret and I are both suffering from heavy colds yesterday was something of a red letter day as we went on a nine hour boat trip totally circumnavigating Milos and also visiting the neighbouring island of Kimolos. We spent the whole day looking at the marvellous rock formations around the island, all of its beaches and coves, and the remains of some mines workings. As the boat was small enough to travel close to the coast we were able to see most of it up close and personal.
My blip is of the former fishing community of Klima where the the house were built to house the family on the first floor and the ground floor was used to harbour their boats. Much of it is now given over to holiday accommodation but the brightly coloured doors and windows are traditional.
We also made three stops for swimming and snorkelling in bays with beautifully clear and azure water. I was itching to get in but given my state of health it seemed a bit unwise.
The rock formations were amazing as Milos is a volcanic island. I have never seen such clear basalt columns before. It as also nice to see some the places we have visited from the sea as well.
i have included various extras including one of a disused mine machinery for my son, Adam who is into this sort of thing.
