Topsy Turvey

I have a butterfly survey to do this week and as the weather has been a bit undecided I have been putting it off. At Longshaw, the weather can be quite different to where we are. Also, I had a couple of errands this morning, and we needed to have an early-is tea so we could get down to the University to attend a talk given by Iolo Williams on the The Birds of Wales. We have seen him speak before so we knew we would be in for an enjoyable evening. He is hugely knowledgeable, and also witty and charming, and doesn't pull his punches when it comes to stating his views about those he sees as a threat to the countryside.
This Red Admiral on our front garden Buddleia was a real treat this afternoon - a real humdinger after a poor Summer for the larger butterflies.
