Everyday I Write The Book

Go for it

P & D both left work today so we went to the pub and sat in the courtyard garden and did the farewell thing. P had been given a "cake" of cheese by colleagues, a novel way to say goodbye. We walked up the hill to the pub with it, garnering strange looks as we went; not many people in Leatherhead take their cheese for an afternoon stroll.

D made a rather lovely farewell speech. He is a thoughtful, popular man. There was a poignancy to the affair as we are seeing a lot of goodbyes at the moment, and despite old colleagues coming back and acquaintances being renewed it felt like another chapter coming to a close.

It’s all about the lives we touch and are touched by. Nothing else really matters if you have the basics of life and a few close souls amidst the billions to share with. Shared stories and shared beliefs.

As for the rest of the day ... trying not to get wound up about it ...
