Slow At Both Ends

I was first up and headed down to the pier to get some long exposure shots ...... until the weather changed and it started getting wet.

On route down there I met an elderly chap who has spent all his days in this scattered hamlet and who grew up in the cottage we are staying in.

After breakie it was up to the Durness area again with a stop atthe ferry crossing to take pictures of the rainbow and to see if the ferry was running. It wasn't. Probably something to do with the gale and low tide.

Again the weather was changable with lots of rainbows ..... and winds trying to lift you off the ground.

Back at the car there was a bit of a panic ..... I couldn't find the keys. Turns out I had left them in the ignition while we had been away taking pictures. Doh.
Later on there was another car mishap - we parked the car to grab some shots of a fantastic rainbow but there was a huge, deep puddle stopping us getting to the boot to get to the boot. Attempting to shift the car failed miserably. The electric handbrake wouldn't disengage. After lots of head scratching, trial and error as well as using snippets of personal 'I heard from a friend ....' we found that you had to close the door and put your seat belt on. A complete pain when you just want to move it a foot or two. It made for a bit of fun.

Before heading off to bed three of us went out to try and get a shot of The Milky Way before the clouds came over again.
