The Dom

I'm used to the English system of 'if it has a cathedral it's a city & therefore if it's a city it has a cathedral'.
The rule (& there must be one, this is Germany, the land where red tape & bureaucracy go hand in tightly held hand) is clearly different here, because while I wouldn't argue (& certainly never with a German - too competitive) that this place of worship in Werden (next one horse town along the river from Kettwig) is a cathedral (certainly grand and imposing enough, although rather lacking in gargoyles and twiddly bits to my biased eye) there is no way on god's earth that Werden (pleasant though it is) could ever be described as a city, unless maybe there was a huge disaster that wiped out all other places of habitation...
