Not the ride that we'd planned!

With the option of an early getaway we intended to go home via Alston and stop at the South Tynedale Railway. I'd checked the timetable a few days ago and trains were running today :)

Perhaps it was fortunate that yesterday morning I caught the travel report at the end of the local news and Hartside Pass (the route from Alston to Penrith) is closed for two weeks for resurfacing. We didn't want the long detour so the railway will have to wait for another day.

So, instead of a train here's a children's ride outside Tesco in Hexham.
