Traffic was diverted off South Bridge to avoid being hit by lead flashing or slates or masonry being dislodged from the Tron by high winds.

Edinburgh's topography is it's glory, but at times like this, as double decker buses, white vans, taxis and cars file down St Mary's St. Up the Pleasance and round by Teviot, it is clear that the demands of modern transport overwhelm the place.
