Mini road trip
There is a pass in the northern Cascades called Washington Pass at about 5400 feet. I went through there last summer but couldn't see a thing due to smoke from fires and I've been wanting to go there again on a day with better visibility. I've been watching the weather so we jumped in the car this morning and went. It's a long drive but the scenery is really incredible.
This photo is taken at the top of the pass, looking east. It's fascinating to see the effects of geology and glaciers in the Cascades. Also, there was a lot of beautiful color from leaves changing now. We had to go over the dam at Lake Diablo as well and that was gorgeous too.
We turned around at a town called Mazama where we bought sandwiches and cookies from the store there (it is kind of famous for those things).
Salem just slept most of the day away in the back of the car, getting out to stretch her legs when we did.
