I suppose it’s the same at every level.
Try telling these two that there’s a story, a narrative behind how they come to be lying side by side or how they came to be rent asunder from their native rock.
Our human discoveries and explanations of geological time are remarable and wonderful; I love them and delight in them.
But they are just that: our human narratives.
Of course, it’s not that they aren’t true (whatever that means).
And yet, if there was some mythic creation tale here, would it be any ‘less” ....any less meaningful.
Whatever the explanations, they don’t change any of it.
Does understanding help?
I’m not entirely sure what we are trying to do when we try to grapple with our own episodic comings into being.
