Hatherton Junction - Staffs and Worcester Canal

After all of the spectacular scenery of the Canadian Rockies, I made the effort to visit a different location this morning in hope of a good sunrise.  it was interesting to watch how the sky developed over about half an hour before sunrise, from clouds just hanging on the eastern horizon to this, where they had filled in much of the sky to warm the light considerably.

You might just notice the man on the right of the scene.  I got chatting to him and his friend to find out that they use the canal boat, cruising out from Wolverhampton to fish at various locations.  Admittedly they weren't having much luck this morning but with many of the home comforts available on board, it seemed a very civil way to pass the time.

This is wearer the Lichfield and Hatherton canal branched off the "Staffie".  While there is extensive work going on at various sections of this disused canal to make it navigable again, there are still a lot of logistical issues and I doubt it will be in my lifetime that boats will cruise from here along the renovated canal.
