Monarch

I had a fair amount of choice re. today's blip - spiderwebs were spectacular this morning, for instance - but then I went down to get the mail and found this guy! So that was that. He looks very fresh and I presume is heading south. I'm glad my butterfly bush was there for a meal! He was one of four monarchs I saw today. Three on our morning walk. One of them resulted in what I think is a rather funny photo. I'll try to put it in as an extra. It was like attempting to take a photo of a rather distant and moving hummingbird.

The sun was actually out today most of the day. But now... it's raining! Whee! There are very nearly mushrooms coming up inside our house at this point. SO. MUCH. RAIN.
