The Sunny Hours
We went to Foxton Locks today specifically to enjoy "the sunny hours" in what might prove to be the last day of this brief Indian Summer. Emblazoned on the sundial on the museum/ex-boiler house is that very same phrase. As you will note from the time displayed it was very nearly one o' clock - time to repair to the tavern at Bridge 61 to enjoy a pastie and a couple of pints of Southwold Bitter.
I have yet to observe a smile on the landlady's lips there - she has the air of one who lost a jackpot-winning lottery ticket a few years ago and resents the fact that she still has to earn a crust - however, she keeps her beer excellently and the Pukka Pasties were microwaved to perfection.
I was hoping to catch some early autumn leaf colour but the trees are still holding on to green - I settled for red on the rosehips (see extras).
