Rustenburg

This is the first view you get of Rustenburg, North West Province, when approaching from Pretoria. I thought M and beautifulblue, would find this amazing because when they used this route as little as six or seven years ago, there was no development whatsoever this side of the mountain, all these houses were built since about six years ago, and they are still building new complexes all the time! The Platinum mines are the reason for this 'boom'.

Those 'castles' on top of the mountain, the white one on the extreme left, white red roofed a bit to the right and the green roofed one close to the right side of the picture, are all single loose standing houses, occupied by one family each, although they look like apartment buildings or hotels. I always say it is silly to stay in such a big house, because you will have to phone the rest of the family to ask where they were, it is too big to find each other in there! He-he-he

The Waterfall Mall complex is situated at the extreme left of the picture, a new Kentucky Fried Chicken opened doors close to the mall about 5 years ago and the whole area around the mall, which was just bush then, is developed into a huge business centre with the Ford/Mazda/Volvo/Jeep dealership, a huge DIY centre, a CTM, 2 Hotels, etc.

M will remember how he helped me move from Orkney to Rustenburg, and drove up the mountain behind the mall, there were no houses on the mall side of the mountain.
