301 Miles From London
I always feel that I'm almost home when I change at Carlisle from the 'big' train to the 'wee' one on the branch line to Dumfries. Suddenly everything seems so different, and so familiar. Scottish voices:-)
Leaving behind the big world of strange 'manners, councils, climates, governments' and returning in my head to the projects and plans I left behind.
Leaving my family to return to David and Jess, who have so patiently (and I hope cheerfully) borne my absence.
Coming home but continuing my journey.
(301 miles From London is the distance to London in Carlisle folklore and the name of the station bar. )
