There and back again

High Tide.

Axminster seemed cut off from the world at times yesterday what with lorries knocking down scaffolding and exploding water mains and the river Axe flooding on one of the main access roads all of which I missed for my blip. This morning I set off to get some flood pictures but it had all disappeared leaving just a few cars, which had obviously fallen victim to the flood, and a few swans swimming around on a pool of water left in a field.

I followed the river down to its mouth, about 5 or 6 miles and although flowing very fast, no flooding. At Axmouth where the river is tidal it was nearly high tide and this boat was straining at its moorings while the force of water coming down stream, was trying to push against it. Behind the boat to the left is a small sandbank where a group of (I think) Lapwings were feeding on the little bit of land still showing.

Tonight we are suppose to have more storms and heavy rain and in fact I can hear it lashing against the window as I type this. All being well I may be blipping you from Dartmoor tomorrow but we shall see!! HAVE A GOOD EVENING.
