Butterfly Bush
Living up to it's common name, the butterfly bush (buddliea) has been alive with butterflies all week, mostly migrating monarchs. Today, I was delighted to see a red-spotted Admiral among the monarchs - a bit tattered but still resplendent. And when two monarchs and the admiral all ended up on the same flower spike, well...it had to be photographed. Not a perfect image by a long shot, but I'm going with it.
Hubs and I took MIL to see her cardiologist today - always an adventure since she's on the hunt for a boyfriend and the doctor's age and marital status isn't something to get in her way. But we managed to keep the doctor out of harm's way, and in the process got a good report on MIL's condition, so everyone left happy.
I released 3 monarchs today, leaving just 6 to go. Today's releases (2 males and a female) flew for the victims of the terrible quake and tsunami in Indonesia.
Big thunderstorms in our area last night, and even a tornado warning which is quite unusual in our area. Luckily, the tornado didn't materialize and we had no damage from the thunderstorm (although it was a little unnerving).
Two more images on Flickr if you're up for it...an unlikely pair enjoying a nectar martini at the Montauk Diner & Bar, and a beautiful male Purple Finch, first of the season. Click HERE
Happy Hump Day, people.
