Friends Indeed
When my husband and I got married in Italy by a lakeside, it was only a small wedding but I remember thinking (with some notable exceptions - my friends Jen & Paul, Sarah & Julian and Gill) that all the people I was closest to in the world were there.
My friendships have changed a lot in the past few years. Moving North, getting married and then having a child has seen to that. My husband and I barely have time for each-other, never-mind time to see all our favourite people. It is hard sometimes.
But good friends don't care. They don't keep a tally of who called last. And they are just delighted when there's a break in the clouds and a chance to catch up.
I received a little parcel today with a beautiful handwritten letter from a friend in Nottingham. She has just had her second child and must be up to her eyes in nappies and New Mumness which makes it even more touching that she was thinking of us.
I feel truly blessed to know such wonderful people and to know that our friendships aren't affected by the distance between us.
It has cheered me up no end. That and the Chanel treat that came with it, obvs!
