Water Rail
Did a bit of an island hop to Tresco and on return we visited a bird hide on St Mary’s.
Some of the birds seen:
Sandpiper
Red-legged Partridge
Snipe
Jack Snipe
Yellow Wagtail
Stonechat
Water Rail
The Jack Snipe is a difficult bird to spot. Although I managed to get a good view of it, I didn’t manage anything more than a record shot – too much vegetation.
This was the first time I had managed to photograph a water rail. It’s a pity it isn’t a bit sharper, but the bird came out of nowhere and was going at breakneck speed before it took a short, low flight back to nowhere.
