It was pleasant to escape from the worries of the last few days for a while at Aberlady Bay and to watch the hundreds of birds including Pink Foot geese. Last Sunday the warden had recorded over 3000 in the bay which is a favourite winter habitat for them.   Perhaps something startled the flock of oyster catchers which suddenly flew up from the shoreline where they awaited the tide to fall so they could search for food.  Many other birds could be seen and heard including two Little Egrets and Curlews (extra) and a skein of Barnacle Geese flying overhead.

(Unfortunately a further operation is planned for tomorrow)
