Peterborough Guildhall
"Change your life today. Don't gamble on the future, act now, without delay."
Simone de Beauvoir
An unexpected visit to Peterborough cathedral to start the day, something of a hidden gem for me as it's not one I've heard of as being particularly interesting - my mistake. Our host told us that Katharine of Aragon was buried there so what better reason for going. Her influence obviously continues to this day because there were flowers and pomegranates on her tomb. We also enjoyed the virtual reality experience of the space capsule and its' return to earth; who says science and religion are uneasy bedfellows? Our odyssey continued across the fens to Felbrigg Hall, a seventeenth century National Trust country house in Norfolk for a brief tour just catching the last entry at 4pm - it's been a bit of a trek for us from Peterborough. I've been told Cromer is worth a visit too so we head off there at throwing out time, to enjoy a bracing walk along the prom. The tail end of the overnight storm is still making its' presence felt with strong winds and waves crashing into the sea wall, sending spray over the prom itself. Undaunted, we seek shelter at No1 Restaurant on the cliff overlooking the pier and enjoy probably the best fish (fresh off the boat) and chips I've ever tasted.
