Once The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel.
Now the Chesterton Working Men's Club. No change in the title here, although women can go in. The Methodists previously preached to around 500 followers, in the open air or barns, until this was built in 1858. Although it looks tatty now, it would have looked better with the stained glass windows in and it's quite nice inside with wooden walls and beams. Ideal for the Country and Western dance I put on in there with my dancers when I was still teaching a few yeas ago. The Methodists moved to a new building in 1904 and was then given to the Working Men's Club by the Lady of the Manor, in memory of her son who died in WW1. As it looked rather bland, I posterized it, not that it made much difference !
