Tiny Tuesday . . . WATER
I was beside water and sometimes walking on grass wet with dew very, very early this morning. The lovely daughter is part of a rowing challenge the firm she works for have entered. None of the crew has ever rowed before. They have been practising for three weeks and this coming Sunday they will race the other crews. Their coach is a rower. Lovely daughter thought this morning was their best effort so far. They could be peaking at the right time. It meant getting up at 5.00am so we could drive to the Avon River ready to start at 6.00am. The sun had only just come up when they were returning to the start and on the return lap they are on the opposite bank to me. In the extra is her crew.
Part way through I changed to the macro lens and took some quick shots of this onion weed growing in the grass beside the river. With a tripod these could have been good. Anyway this is the suggestion of the moisture the Australian farmers would like to see on their parched lands.
I enjoyed the morning walking beside the misty river and seeing the sun come up in the Red Zone. This is a fenced off section of former residential land where the houses have been removed because the land is unsuitable to be built on again. The streets are still there and you can see the shrubs and trees which once were people's gardens. It is thought provoking. Nature is off course slowly covering over the roads and I saw the wild rabbits that are flourishing there.
When we got home again I had a wee nap. Later that morning we had
another explore around the city and I got many good images of the changing face of Christchurch. I flew home this evening and had a superb view of the alps. Very little snow on them now.
