Delivery Lorry

The continuing saga, you might want to skip to the last paragraph!
 
The kitchen fitter arrived at around 0830 hours and was amazed that things were not ready. It seems that the boiler fitter from last week should have removed the old boiler, filled the vent hole and taken it away. The kitchen fitter had not been informed that the kitchen needed to be modified to accommodate the tank, which we need to keep. It is our fault that it was a different boiler, but despite me telephoning them they had not passed on the information. The kitchen fitter made a start on removing the sink unit and told us the kitchen was being delivered between 0930 hours and 1030 hours; it arrived at 1155 hours. Some parts of the kitchen were missing and one section got broken, but a new one is being ordered and the missing parts are being chased. There was also concern that the water softener would not fit where it was supposed to go and may not be fitted at all.
 
Early in the afternoon one of the directors of the company telephoned me, clearly I had made enough noise. She wanted to know about the problems, so I gave her to Steve the kitchen fitter. He told her that a plumber needed to come out tomorrow as the plumber last week had put the pipes in the wrong place and the boiler had not been gas tested! Then Steve departed around 1400 hours as there was nothing else he could do.
 
The new hot water cylinder is being delivered this evening, when the man at City Plumbing goes home. Their delivery lorry had got stuck in traffic and had not returned to the depot to collect and then deliver our cylinder. I am hoping tomorrow will be a better day. We do not have water in the kitchen, but as this was once two houses, we have two water supplies so bathrooms, showers and baths with hot water are possible. We can get water from our outside tap, which involves turning some values; my husband’s department not mine!!
