Cabin Light

I set the ISO really high for this shot for two reasons: because it would be crazy blurry if I didn't, and it captures that warm feeling I associate with a winter evening in a cabin. I suppose in part it has to do with my blurry mind state, but maybe that just helps me narrow my focus. There is some kind of serenity in the details of a small space- like the flicker of the candle lantern, the bends in the PBR can in Jason's hand, the steam creeping up the window panes, or the card that is face up in the deck on the middle of the table.

I always loathe the hike, but celebrate it when it is complete and I get to wake up in the wilderness. We were both a little nervous about our 'first date' with Nate and Hali, but it was great. You learn a lot about a person when you sit down with them over drinks in a small space with little distraction.
