Orchid

Today's the day …………………….. to confess

………. that I know absolutely nothing about orchids.

But I've been given a few by friends as presents - and I think they're absolutely incredible.  They live on a teaspoonful of grit and pebbles in a tiny little pot.  You can forget to water them and they don't give a jot.  They survive on fresh air, from which they must extract the moisture.

The exotic flowers last for months and when they eventually fade and you're thinking 'oh well - it's time to chuck that one out'.  That's when you notice the cheeky stem that has appeared from nowhere which grows and grows and produces another lot of beautiful flowers like this one.

It's a plant that asks for nothing - and gives back rich rewards ………………..
