All Aboard....
Today was another lovely day.
The Battleship Carolina was finally open after repairs after Hurricane Florence. There was still obvious damage - toilets had no water, areas were flooded. Dead fish littered the basin.
But boy what a boat.
this WW2 Battleship has been restored by Veterans and Volunteers, and it has been done so amazingly.
We wandered up and down the decks for three hours.
I was concerned when we arrived- i had a very sore knee the day before and I didn't know if I could manage it, but weirdly it healed over night, and I climbed up and down 5 levels of a boat up and down. Steep ladder type stairs. It was like being on the edinburgh again - himself was in his element.
Oh my those sailors lived in tight quarters!
In the evening, we met with the kids for FOOD again.
Copper Penny this time. More Shrimp - the rest of the gang had sandwiches. A speciality of the Copper Penny. Was lovely.
Then we headed across the road to KGB. Amazeball place. Red leather sofas, walnut booths ... and the best Juke Box in the world.
Bearing in mind that i have before cried non-stop for 3 days before I leave, I think I had done well to get to 2 days before we left, and I hadn't cried. But the joy of sitting there with my boy got to me and I sobbed. I sobbed and Sobbed and sobbed. and then Once Rick Astley stopped I was fine.
And we really had a ball the rest of the night.
The Bar man was a big scary bear with long bushy beard and an interesting haircut - but bloody hell that man could shake a cocktail! Amazingballs. Wild Turkey Cocktails - The Little J was drinking the Mules. It didn't matter what kind of Mule, just mules.
When we left, after Himself upmteen songs on the Juke box, I gave the Bar Man a great big hug and told him he had the BEST bar ever - and did the best cocktails ever.
It is true.
