That's Another Storey

Home-owners who need more space usually consider building a room on the back of their home or maybe over the top of their garage.

Here in Queensland there's a phenomenon known as house-raising or restumping. Until a few days ago, the old wooden Queenslander house in this blip sat almost on the ground; the front porch and door are to the left of the image. The whole structure has been lifted on telescopic poles and now a new ground floor will be constructed underneath. In a couple of week's time this will be a two-storey house.

Sometimes entire Queenslanders are lifted onto trucks and moved across the state where they are re-stumped and lifted in their new location.
