The Can't Be Bothered Bird

I spotted this White-Faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae) on a rock in the Obi Obi River this morning a few metres from Woolies' car park in Maleny, Queensland. It seemed to be simply standing there.

It turns out, that is exactly what it does. It finds its food (fish, insects, amphibians) by standing and waiting for something to move past within striking distance. What a laid-back bird!
