Durham - autumn reflections
We enjoyed a good breakfast in our hotel before setting off to explore Durham to show Thomas around. It was raining all morning and quite cold, and not the best conditions for walking around but we made the best of it. I have added some extras of Thomas outside some of the colleges and the beautiful autumn reflections on the river.
Luke and Meriel got back from Edinburgh at about noon and we went to Luke's house. He is very lucky as he has a very nice house this year, shared between him and four of his friends. Then we went to lunch at a popular restaurant and had a delicious meal. It was still raining so we went and got the car and drove to the sports fields and to some of the more outlying colleges so that Thomas could get a good idea of the university. He has been pleasantly surprised and if the engineering department impresses him on his tour tomorrow then this will be one of his firm university choices.
We went back to Luke's house for some tea and Gavin hung some pictures on his bedroom wall, and then we returned to our hotel as Thomas had some work to do as did Luke. The sun finally made a brief appearance at about 5pm which is when I took this photo. The autumn colours are quite lovely here.
