A bit of washing
I missed a Blip yesterday, as I am still recovering from the King Tutankhamun celebrations 2 days ago, at the Valley of the Kings. It was a long day and night!
We enjoyed a magnificent evening at Howard Carter's House (Which is now a museum)
A film of the discovery was shown in the gardens, fruit juice cocktails were served by waiters dressed in golden Pharoanic attire. Speeches were made by Lord and lady Carnarvon, the Ministers of Tourism and Antiquities and the Governor of Luxor, Dr Ezzat Saad, as the media hung onto every word they spoke.
Dinner was served in the grounds accompanied by the traditional sound of Manal, very well known Egyptian harpist. The evening breeze blew gently from the Qorna Mountain and the Valley of the Kings, I felt the ancients were content with the days proceedings :-)
Since a little girl, I have had a fascination with the Egyptian history. To be here in Luxor and be a part of, the 90th anniversary of the opening of the Boy Kings tomb, is one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
I have never seen the tomb of King Tutankhamun before. Seeing him laying there, stirred the magic once more. Egypt is a wonderful place.
This chap is washing a little pair of joggers in the River Nile. I just love arriving by ferry from Luxor, to the West Bank.
Thanks Mena x
