Honey Honey! (I hear an Abba song coming on)
Tonight we had a dinner date with friends but sickness meant we needed to take a rain check! Not to be thwarted GK and I decided to indulge in some al fresco dining out at Global Village.
It was a beautiful evening weatherwise, not too hot, not too cold, just perfect and Global village is excactly what it says it is....a village comprised of booths depicting various cultures and countries from around the world! Its an experience definitely not to be missed when on a visit to Dubai. It works out a lot cheaper too than a regular round the world trip and really cuts down on the jet lag!
GK was so organised and knew excactly what countries she wanted to visit so after a quick flit through Spain, and a stop over in Greece to devour a donor kebab, we headed for Austria, Turkey, South Korea, Africa and finally Yemen (which really was my choice!)
Its there I always get totally mesmerised by the incredible displays of spice mountains, fruit baskets, dried herb sacks and last but not least....the honey pots! Every conceivable type and texture is available and if you can't get the natural organic honey you are looking for in Yemen....then believe me, its not worth getting!
The stall holders are all local Yemeni's and come down raw from the mountains brimming over with rustic enthusiasm. Their sales pitches are entertainment in themselves and the banter between their various stalls is worth every moment of the visit!
My subject was only too happy to demonstrate his incredible skills with his GINORmous spoon and wonderful colourful display of honey jars!
It was all I could do to keep from singing out loud...."Honey, Honey, how you thrill me.....Aha.....Honey, Honey!"
Perfectly restrained was I!!!!!!
Happy Blipping Everyone
