Amazing film

A bright sunny morning

This is a screenshot from a BBC report of ‘They shall not grow old’, which we went to see on Tuesday evening. It is an amazing film by Peter Jackson (of Lord of the Ring’ fame). He spent four years colourising old WW1 footage, researching and fitting into the film, audio recordings of BBC interviews from the 1960’s with survivors of the war.

The result is a truly moving film which communicates the living conditions and the terrible slaughter endured by these soldiers in trench war fare. The impact of the film, treated to modern technology, is so much greater than the old B&W, jerky film we have seen up till now.

Definitely a film to go and see when it is released. Last night was a live stream of the Premiere in London.
