postcard from Guildford

A lovely and (wet) day in Guildford with old friend and blipper JanJen.

I grew up here and this is a view of the High Street - a scene, which apart from the clothes and the shop names - has not changed since my childhood  -  hence my attempt at a 'nostalgic' bit of faffing.

The clock dates from 1683.  The building it's attached to is at least 200 years older.

JanJen was in full tour guide mode and I saw sights (pubs) that I had not seen since my teenage years.  And some I'd missed altogether.

For example I had no idea that Lewis Carroll lived in the town.  I do now though, from all the Alice statutes dotted around the place (see extras - through the looking glass).
