It's a Swarm . . .

We were quietly having second cups of tea on the deck thinking about the day and Debbie said, look at all those bees flying around.  You have seen Andrew's bee hives before in my blips.  Andrew is on holiday in England and I think the bees decided they should be on holiday too.  Across the street is Bevan who is also a bee keeper.  He already had his bee suit on tending his own hives.  He said just to watch them and when we know where they are gathering he will come over.  They eventually massed in a shrub and Bevan came with a bee box.  His friend used the smoke to calm the bees and drive them toward the box.  Bevan used a brush to persuade them which way to go.  Extra is the their new home.  They swam when they are over crowded in the hive or the Queen is getting old and decides to move out with some workers and make a new hive before the others turn on her.  I realise now you don't have bees forever they are in your hives on their terms.  Bevan has taken the box of bees home to his place.   Andrew now has less bees.  That seems to be how it is in the bee world.  It provided excitement for us and photos of course.
