Day 293/18 Red Squirrel on Brownsea Island
A trip to Brownsea Island today, the largest island in Poole Harbour.
The island is one of the few places in southern England where indigenous red squirrels survive, largely because non-native grey squirrels have never been introduced to the island.
This time of year they become fearless of humans as their urge to forage for food to store for the winter preoccupies their behaviour.
