Russian Othodox Church
The story goes that this church was put down by a Russian oil magnate who had his summer house built on the Costa Blanca and would like to show it to his old mother. The old, but obviously strong, lady, said only to want to come across if there was a Russian orthodox church in the neighborhood. A son, an architect, wood and craftsmen from the Ural Mountains came over and could open the church with great pomp and circumstance in 2007, with her as a shining center and her proud son at her side.
The church was given the name of the Archangel Michael in imitation of many churches, which were built in the same building style as in the 17th century. The basis of these churches is the Byzantine architecture, where Italian architects later incorporated trends from the Renaissance, which became visible mainly in the beauty of the ornaments.
Characteristic for the countryside is building in wood, which for a large part also determines the face of Russian architecture. In the unfinished outbuildings of this very special Russian church on the Costa Blanca, the so-called tent roof style and technique has been applied. No nail was used, everything was fittingly made into each other.
