El palmeral de Elche

In Elche grow I believe the most palm trees of Spain. You see palm trees everywhere you look. In the female trees hang the dates that you can buy everywhere.
In the botanical garden of Elche is a special palm tree. This palm tree has seven other strains from one basic strain.

In 1894 Empress Elisabeth 'Sissi' of Austria visited El Palmeral and the large seven-armed palm 'Palmera Imperial' in the form of a candlestick was dedicated to her.
