Rievaulx Abbey

It’s very unusual for the weather to be so warm when we visit Rievaulx Abbey but today we were able to amble round the ruins at a leisurely pace and enjoy the sun from various seats dotted around . In fact such is the regularity of our life that I realised that it’s exactly a year to the day since we visited last year. We enjoyed watching some geese nibbling in the adjacent field, their white feathers almost gleaming in the sunshine .
We had lunch at Helmsley Walled Garden first and the sun was both scorching and dazzling !
