Family Outing Day
The day started with some early excitement of a green nappy fill. It took us a while to work out that he had not been eating play doh or crayons and that actually it was probably because of the mouth colour changing sweet I bought him yesterday. Wife was feeling better which was handy as we had a busy day ahead of us.
We took the little ones to the adventure barn for a charge around and dinner. This was so tha they could wear themselves out a bit before we went to our friends wedding reception round the corner. The wedding reception was earlier than usual to make it easier for partents which was brilliant.
As we pulled up in the car park we realised that it was the first time we had all gone on such an outing as a complete family. In the past it has had to be just the one of us adults representing the family whilst the other fulfilled the babysitting duties.
The reception was great, a real family affair, the couple we very happy and unsurprisingly had had a brilliant day, you can tell they spend a lot of their time laughing which is great. They will be very happy. Girl was introduced to one of the bridesmaids and straight away took to her new friend. The first hour of the disco was for the kids which our two loved, both winning some sweets.
As the band started to tune up we made our base by a small bar where where after a while Girl and her new friends were all using the table to draw and write messages for the wish tree. We had to get Boy a small glass of ice, to stop him from shoving his hands in our drinks to get ours, which he happily ate watching the girls draw.
The groom had told me about the band before they started, a rock band playing rock hits of the eighties. At first Boy was not sure of the volume so I ended up putting my wooly hat on his head to muffle it a bit. After that he was mesmerized and refused to leave the dance floor until we bribed him with wedding cake. We ended up staying later than we said we would and so the little ones had a slightly later night than they are used to (even by there standards), but it was a great night.
On the way home I asked Boy and Girl what their favourite part of the day was. Girl said playing with her new friend and Boy simple replied "Band". Even the stop on the way home for the usual Girl car vomit didn't damped our spirits.
