LAINZER TIERGARTEN
Today, our last day in Vienna, we travelled with the metro to the Lainzer Tiergarten, part of the Wienerwald.
We entered the park through the Nikolaitor. And followed a steep path through the forest. The autumnal colours were so beautiful.
We had hoped to see some animals, like moufflons, wild boars, or a fox, but that did not happen.
There are next to the woods meadows and ponds, brooks too.
Till we reached the Rohrhaus, one of the highest spots, we walked and walked. And there we sat in a rough wind on a bench to eat our sandwich.
From there the path went down the hill. Again we admired the beautiful trees. Then we came at the Hermes building, the villa that Emperor Franz Joseph build for his wife Sissi. A pretty house, I would say, a bit big for one person.
Near the Lainzer Tor we saw a field with lots of young deer, they could not move freely.
We left the park at the Lainzer Tor, caught a bus, then a tram, and then the metro home.
A lovely last day in the open air.
I will give my first silly hearts tonight to KangaZu, Mindseye, loisbiz, stillandknow, and si_b.
