Insulation?

We are insulated (a word that means, literally, remember, made into an island) from the tragedy of others, by our island nature, and by the repetitive shape and form of the stories.

Some woodwork treatment was needed in the Kinghorn flat. They had to take down a small portion of the ceiling and we discovered that there in no insulation between the suspended ceiling and the outside world.

The day was peppered between me and surveyor, trying to work out what to do. No point sealing up and making good if we just have to take it down again. Sounds like an overlay of insulated plasterboard, lowering the ceiling somewhat, is the proposed solution.
