When he got the heat of the lights on him he went from being quite sluggish to looking quite lively. A little bit of cauliflower leaf helped too!

Sad to confess it but he was another kidnap victim - no wonder he kept hiding in his shell for so long. He was actually quite fascinating in that his eyes are at the end of his larger tentacle tips and he did look round and gently feel all the surfaces with them. What looks like a small black blob is actually a spherical eye with a jellylike lens and the external wall of the tentacle is a protective cornea. It is probably quite short-sighted.

The garden snail has an unusual sex life in possessing both male and female organs. The mating takes place on a warm wet evening usually and ends in a harpoon-like dart shooting from snail to snail. Each then goes it's own way to lay up to 40 eggs in a shallow hole in the earth with the shell enlarging as it grows.

No snail was harmed or eaten in the making of this blip and he will return from whence he came! Certainly, NOT going to be hanging round our garden.
