The Wren

Chantilly Lace....

It has been a glorious winter's day at last with sunshine, small clouds in the otherwise blue sky and very, very cold. Perfect!

I had a really enjoyable long walk with the dogs today, as this evening I was taking them to their respective holiday homes. Tomorrow I am off on another adventure with part of the family.

Those of you who have followed my journal for a while will know that I followed the growth of new larch cones from the time they looked just like ripe raspberries to when they were full grown. Now I thought I would show you ones that are rather long in the tooth. Most trees around here are covered in various wonderful forms of lichen as the air is so pure and these cones have succumbed as well, although they are still firmly fixed on the tree. It is only this time of year, when the trees are denuded from their foliage, that you can really appreciate the lichen and wonder how the trees manage to survive with such an abundant covering of the stuff.

Thank you all very much for your comments, stars and hearts for my fiery sky. I am delighted you all enjoyed it as much as I had.
