Back of the Station
We came down to London for the day so I could see the exhibition at the British Library - Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms. This is an astonishing collection of Anglo-Saxon texts and much else, gathered from all over the place and brought here, Tells the story of England and the English language. (Shows what a nonsense the idea is of ‘England for the English’ and such like - what a mixed heritage of immigration we all have.) Fascinating exhibition and weren’t we surprised to see a full size replica of the Ruthwell Cross in the centre of it. I suppose they couldn’t really get the original there!
We were delighted when our daughter found she was able to join us for something to eat later. We ate at a lovely restaurant just behind Kings Cross. Still lots of development going on there - it’s certainly not how it used to be.
Now we’re on the train home. Super day.
