'Battered Butterfly'

Found this tiny little one out the back tonight, it was only about 10mm long and I've used the 50mm lens, so a fair bit of cropping to get this one.

Looks like it's seen better times, the little wings looked quite battered and well worn.

A bit of a sad day for us today as the first of our Maran chicken eggs hatched after a big struggle through the night, only to last about an hour or so outside it's egg. The second one didn't even make it out of the egg before dying. We have 3 more to hatch, all of our fingers and toes are crossed hoping for a survivor tonight. Mrs Rosewarne has been so careful and caring, turning the eggs 3 times daily inside the incubator for the last 3 weeks and this is definately left us feeling pretty gutted tonight.

Not looking forward to a 38 degree day tomorrow.
