A time for everything

Evening at Music Hall

Friday
We’d both had bad nights, so slept in a little later than usual this morning. Then Laura called - Friday being the first day of her weekend. She’s having a bit of a rough time in Kuwait at present - they’re having thunder storms almost every day - or night - she’s been woken twice this week in the middle of the night! School was cancelled one day as roads were flooded! Since rain is a pretty rare event, the roads don’t have drains, so when they get torrential rain, it has nowhere to go. The problem for Laura is, every time it rains heavily, her patio doors let water in from the balcony, and she gets (a significant amount of) water in her living room -it seems they don’t believe in sealing doors properly either! It wasn’t a problem last year as they hardly got any rain!
I really should have got out to the “Y” for some exercise, but just didn’t feel like it, so made do with a fairly long and brisk neighbourhood walk instead. We’re going to get a taste of winter temperatures over the next few days, with high temperatures only reaching the upper 30s, and lows in the low 20s, so I decided it was time to put the electric blanket on the bed today! We had a fairly early dinner, then it was off to the Music Hall again. Tonight’s program highlight was Beethoven’s 9th Symphony - always so stirring and uplifting, and so remarkable since he was virtually deaf when he wrote it! As we were driving home, before 11 pm, the temperature was already below freezing, and there were intermittent very fine snow flakes in the air! Go away winter, I’m not ready for this!
My heart goes out to the people of California at present, in the aftermath of yet another shooting, and more deadly and devastating wild fires.
