Cross purposes

As soon as I got out of the car there was a misunderstanding. They thought I had food for them, I thought I was just there to take photographs. One swan came very close, convinced there was something in it for him. He seemed huge! The ducks made a great racket. But eventually they got the message that there was nothing on the menu and they all departed back into the pond. Arguments continued between the resident ducks and the visiting seagulls, inland to escape the cold English Channel fifty miles away.
